Albin Egger-Lienz — ‘Mann und Weib’

Vaguer and vaguer gesticulations, only insignificance

Sustained by scintilla of air

Heat applied to the mercury rod

Delicate traces of the noxious remain

Parity of experience

X

RecurringRecurringEternalRecurring

All roads leading to soft supple doughy nothingness

Beautiful absence made flesh

Can’t you see it’s youandyou

And y-

X

The Hunger exists

Yet though our taxonomy

Demands it

There are no such things as guttersnipes,

Craven curs, and well-juiced gallants

Cuno Amiet — ‘Moonlit Landscape’

Propelled into Being

To question

Is to ignore

The nature of propulsion

And of Being

But to ignore

Is fine

X

All that is is all that ever

To question, in the abstract

Is in itself every single question

Ever (to be) posed

In the real

X

All separated

Only by the inability to see

The whole

Muddy

Interconnected

Mess

X

Slippy like,

Foamy like

Heated butter

And intwined multiplicity

Pulped lice

And ‘crowning architecture’

X

For me —

For everything that ever is

At a fixed point

And all other points which

This fixed point

Contains

X

— No other grounds

For Being

Are required

Nor possible

Nor, if honest

Wanted

X

So though propelled

Into this endeavour

And that

Seemingly (and incorrectly)

Contra desires and intent

X

I faithfully

Irrevocably

Remain

Both propelled

And, the propellor

Francis Bacon — ‘Study of a Baboon’

We bludgeon the flaccid

Yet

Even if the inflections

Of vocals

And — by extension

Memories, remain

Why should that be

Something which phases?

X

As ‘principled’ animals we drift

Through sheets

Of cadavers

And the dawns

That sheets bring naturally

X

So little beasts

Just slink on out

Of the break

Stand on your

Hind legs

And piss freely

X

Attention

To all who realise that

Empathy is without

Anchor

And attention to those

Who don’t
